August 1949 den Flugplatz Hegmatten mit dem neu gebauten Hangar einweihen. 1986 erfolgte mit dem Bau des benachbarten Sportplatzes eine Verlegung und Erweiterung des Segelflugplatzes. 1992 wurde zusammen mit Vertretern des Ortsvereins ein Segelflugzeug auf den Namen Hegi getauft. Heute zählt die Segelfluggruppe 110 Mitglieder und 26 Flugschüler. Insgesamt stehen auf dem Flugplatz rund 40 Segelflieger im Einsatz sowie ein Motorflugzeug, das ausschliesslich für Schleppflüge eingesetzt wird.
